They're perfect for standard walls
I've used them to hold everything from microwave ovens to heavy drywall shelving and they work great. Obviously you'll leave a big hole in the wall if you decide to remove the shelf later. Also, these screws are long, but that makes it very easy to manipulate through the hole. They fit perfectly in standard walls.
