Review on πŸ“Ί EasyMote Universal TV Remote Control - Big Button, Backlit, Smart Learning Technology, Designed for Elderly Care in Assisted Living. Black Remote Control for Television & Cable Box by Jay Maryland

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for a buddy with dementia who needs a simplified remote to prevent input/source or language changes.

My friend has dementia and is in the memory center. His illness has progressed so far that he can no longer remember how to use one remote control to turn the television on and off and the other to change the channel and adjust the volume. He just pushed the buttons on some remote control and tried to get something to work. I went to him and his TV (which he likes to watch) was off because he couldn't figure it out and none of the staff had the technical knowledge to take the time to fix it for him. This remote saved the day. . at least until he no longer understands how to use the remote control. But even then, the worst that can happen is if he lands on an empty channel. The staff can easily fix it. My advice to Comcast cable users: in the included instructions, set the remote to "scan" mode, then press the channel select button until the TV changes channels. Each time you press the Ch-Up button, it tries a different code. If you select one of these and it doesn't work properly, you can try again to keep checking for code that works better. I kept going until I found code that ran a simple plain comcast box. which also has a volume control. I then used the learn mode to teach the EasyMote the TV's power button. It took me a few times to figure out how to change the angle of the remote control from the TV (not the cable box) to the EasyMote by repeatedly pressing the power button until the EasyMote light blinks. It was as if the beam coming out of the TV remote didn't go straight, but tilted towards the ground. This works great now. My friend no longer watches TV with endless subtitles or can't watch TV at all because his TV is waiting for HDMI2 input. So far, he can control the volume, change the channel and switch his own television on and off. And even if he gets even more confused, the staff will be able to help him. I hid the original remotes in case I need them, but he's fine.
