Review on 🧦 Darn Tough Tactical Boot Extra Cushion Sock: Superior Comfort and Durability for Tactical Footwear by Durward Carlson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great socks BUT the reviews are misleading. Not "thick "

I love damn hard socks. I think they make the best socks all the time. I also really like these socks. However, there is a big problem. These socks are deceiving both in the description and in the reviews. I used to have both Smartwool mountaineering socks and extra thick Redhead socks. I wanted to replace them with other very thick plush socks, mostly merino wool. I usually wear them at home in the winter. I bought these based on the description and all the reviewers said they were "fat". However, they weren't what I was looking for. These are thick socks IF you wear them with a padded boot for winter activities. I do ice climbing and usually wear thinner socks than these and my feet are very warm. They are great for thick socks for hiking, climbing, snowshoeing or hunting. A sock you can wear without overheating your feet. So they are very fat. However, their thickness cannot be compared to Smartwool or Red (Bass Pro) climbing socks. They're not as warm as the ones I'm not thinking of and not as comfortable as socks that have to be worn all the time. They are much closer to the extra thick Smartwool PhD socks than mountaineering socks. If I were to buy these socks to wear with ice climbing shoes then I think they are 5 star socks. Damn durable socks are cool, the guarantee is cool. It's comfortable, they feel very nice and hug your feet very well. They're about a 7/10 for warmth, which is fine for me with an insulated boot in 0-30F temperatures. However, if you're fooling yourself into thinking this sounds like Smartwool's definition of 'thick', this might be a different sock that works. better.
