Great and interesting for Meyer Parrot sized birds

I won't say your bird won't be afraid of this but my Meyer Parrot was curious and interested in this one Plastic feeding device as if it were only in his field of vision. It took him a while to learn and understand how it works, but a few months later he's very good at one particular door and has to fiddle around with others to get his special treat. A door is causing him problems, but he is working on it. Even if all the doors are open and empty, sometimes he likes to come up and chew. Your bird may be afraid of the object because it can be quite intimidating and large, so I slowly introduce the toy and invite your bird to come and play with it. The best way to teach a bird to open doors on its own is through a demonstration. Put your bird's favorite treat inside and let him taste for a while. Then when he gives up, show him how the door opens and give him the treat. Do this until you can finally move on to opening the door, luring them with a treat, then closing the door again so they understand. I have also found that my Meyer was not yet strong enough to open the doors as he was very young when I got the collector so I recommend leaving the doors slightly ajar so your bird knows the Doors on them can be opened. Practice creates masters!
