Review on Hella 12V 5-Pin 0-900s Delay On Time Control Unit 996152151 by Mark Adlesh

This is not a solid state relay but it will work fine

In my humble opinion Hella products are good quality so I ordered them to replace the lighting relay on my bike. The idea is that when I turn on the ignition, I don't want the headlights and hazard lights draining the battery while I'm trying to start the engine. Just one headlight consumes 10A. In addition, motorcycle batteries are notoriously weak. I set it to 7-12 seconds and time it so the lights come on as soon as the engine starts. My HD VRod uses standard mini-relays (same form factor and pins are standard). The device is designed for a maximum current of 10A, and I switch the headlight to a DayMaker LED headlight - I think the total load on the lighting circuit will be less than 10A (turn signals and brake lights have already switched to LEDs, without to use a low-efficiency load resistor.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged
