I've been fighting the urge to buy this lens for a few years. I didn't need it as I already have a very good 35mm f/2 "Fujicron" but I still see this lens being praised on numerous sites and also on YouTube in 2020 with amazing images. I went on to say that my f/2 version was just great, and it probably is if you only use measurements that can be read off charts and graphs. You can't quantify "looks" or "magic," but these attributes keep coming up for this lens on websites that discuss Fujifilm hardware. Test: 1000 shots with just this lens. No test charts or brick walls, just actual photos I would take at that focal length. My initial fear instantly vanished as my lens quickly focused on something I was aiming for in my dimly lit living room. This was the case with my XPro2, so the slow focus attribute often mentioned on first generation Fujifilm bodies didn't show up on my camera. I expect cameras released after the XPro2 will be even better. Can I see the benefit of this f/1.4 lens over the f/2 lens? I would say yes Again, you can't measure it, but it just produces amazing images. I use my cameras with a combined mechanical and electronic shutter (from 1/8000 the shutter becomes electronic) which means I can shoot at f/1.4 in broad daylight, which produces images that no other camera for mobile phones can reproduce. who think their phone is all anyone needs. I leave the Fujicron when I need weatherproofing or when I know I'll be shooting in the middle of the aperture ring. But I'm glad I finally decided to buy it. My 1000 photos are behind me and I won't be changing lenses anytime soon.
