My dog had trouble with the steel steps that came with the trailer. I think the holes pressed in to dry his feet didn't feel good on his paws. Once installed, it became much easier for him to get in and out of the RV without trying to jump the steps. And still removes large particles from your shoes but leaves some dust/dirt behind. In general, the dog is happy, so I'm happy
