Review on DBPOWER 9 5 Inch Portable Rechargeable Battery by Joseph Hall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best $50 I've spent in a long time.

This was an impulse purchase, but it far exceeded all expectations. Our old car had DVD players in the headrests and my daughter loved watching her Disney movie collection while driving. When we bought our Tesla, it didn't have an option for back seat entertainment. Our daughter sometimes took her old laptop to watch movies but it was bulky, heavy and if she was lucky she could get 1 movie out of a load. So for long trips we had to use an inverter and a bulky laptop charger. I saw this a few weeks ago and decided to give it a try. Doesn't matter! We've had him for about a week now and I can't imagine not having him. When you make an impulse purchase and suddenly realize you've needed it for a long time, this is my victory. Here's a quick overview and I ran some tests (I'm a mechanical engineer, couldn't resist) with scenarios that normal people might relate to. Stability test: I turned on A Bug's Life and shook the DVD player slightly. No reaction. Then I did some big rocking motions, again no reaction. Then I grabbed it tightly with both hands and shook it HARD, somehow no reaction. Scratched disc test: I took a movie she didn't like (Water Horse on DVD rw) and played it a few times after rubbing it on a tile floor. It will keep playing until it looks like the attached photo. I put it in my laptop and it didn't even recognize the drive. Sound test: I turned on a movie at full volume in the back seat and since the cars are electric there's no point in doing a drive test as it's almost silent. However, I used the car radio to drown it out. When it got difficult to hear a movie, the stereo was a bit louder than we usually use. Headphones are a different story. I used a pair of Sony noise canceling headphones, plugged in the cable and sat down. You only need to adjust the volume to level 3 to hear the sound clearly in noisy environments. There's no Bluetooth, so you'll need to use a dongle if you want to avoid cables. I haven't had time to fully test the battery life, but it can easily watch 2 DVD movies with headphones. I suspect you can get over 4 hours of screen time with a USB stick or SD card. Pros: Stability is otherworldly. I would love to take it apart to see how they achieved this level of impact resistance. Except for a scratch test, he still hasn't missed a beat. It's light, like a SHOCKING light. (750 grams) It's hard to believe it even has a battery, let alone a battery that lasts hours. The swiveling screen is a nice touch and it's so easy to hold. They included a good set of cables and a 12v charging cable. The video quality is very good, it's not Full HD, but it's not DVDS either. Beetle life has never looked better! Cons: Nothing really. I don't know what to complain about for $50.
