Review on Set Of 2 Large Glass Pantry Jars With Sealed Lids - Ideal For Pasta, Flour, Sugar, And More - 72 Oz Storage Capacity - EATNEAT Glass Food Storage Containers by Bennie Boss

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great jars, bad lids

I was about to give these sturdy jars 5 stars when I noticed a chemical odor. I washed the jars and the lid thoroughly and the next day the chemical odor persisted. I traced the source to the plastic inserts in the metal lids. Then I soaked and washed and re-soaked the lids in various watery solutions for days, but the toxic odor never diminished. Food-safe plastic should not emit any odor.To me it's obvious that this small plastic part is not food-safe and is potentially very toxic. Was this done on purpose or simply by total stupidity and ignorance? And where are our government agencies that are supposed to protect consumers? If these lids were simply made of food-safe pure polypropylene or polyethylene I'd be perfectly happy, but apparently someone feels the need to put nasty toxic chemicals in every consumer product. So now I have 2 great jars without proper lids.
