Review on Hemp Watercolor Paper Pack 8 5 by Nicole Mcleod

Revainrating 5 out of 5

currently my favorite art paper

when I received it it smelled strongly of cleaner/detergent (many of you probably don't care, but I know I'm not the only canary artist). So I had to wipe down each side with a paste of vinegar, bronzer, and baking soda, but she cleaned it up pretty well, and the fact that she was able to handle it without warping or getting water damage is really special. seems to have a textured and smooth side despite what i read on this site which disappointed me as i thought it would be really helpful for those who like to use different environments. It has some blemishes but I find it charming, honestly I love the natural and antique quality the stains give it. Paper is almost as strong and durable as cardboard. I understand why it might be too thick for printers, but I didn't want it for that. I put off drawing, trembling at the first page, but I decided to make a small test drawing of a small and simple cat with watercolor pencils and I was immediately and pleasantly surprised! the color took well and the painting was so smooth! Adding water and ink worked well too. I do notice that there are some shiny spots when I tilt the drawing, but I think it looks cool and doesn't spoil the look of the drawing. I haven't tried charcoal yet, I'd also like to try other watercolor techniques like brushes, I've been thinking about replacing wax pastels with chalk pastels. I can edit my review if/when I test more. I think this is my new favorite paper.
