The only thing I don't like about it is the inclusion of a useless calibration procedure. The procedure requires adjusting the calibration knob so that the gap between the jaws is 0.039 inches, the thickness of the original end of the calibration tool. The shape of the jaws sets this measurement at 0.045" when the jaws are closed. No amount of adjustment will reduce the gap between the jaws! If the tool has about 1/2 inch overtravel at the handle ends, measured between the closing the cam and releasing the pawl, the calibration is probably correct. If wear or improper sizing increased the gap to .064 the thickness of the impassable portion of the gauge, there would be no overflow and the dies would probably fail already! I believe You should check crimps whether you're checking tool clearance or not Apollo's requirement is that the gap in the clip's ear must be less than 0.08".
