The only paint removal wheel I've found doesn't scratch
Worked very well for me, removing both paint and varnish without ruining the wood worked . For a few coats of paint I scratched lightly and then got on with it and it was easy. The wood looked like it had been sanded to 180, but when used on very thick surfaces they wear out quicker.
