Great idea, bad execution.

I received the key from the seller very quickly. It arrived as described and appears to be a quality product, or at least a small step up from OEM. I called and found a locksmith to cut the key. (Many wouldn't cut it unless they bought from them, the Honda dealer cut it for $25 but didn't really want it) This locksmith also cut it for $25 but I've dealt with them before dealt with, which was a good thing. Before cutting, the locksmith warned me that while it might fit the door, many flip label key fobs don't have the same transponder proximity/distance to the ignition sensor and might not start my car. I hoped they were wrong. They cut it open, and after lubricating the locks, the key only went in halfway. The locksmith sharpened it further and after 10 or 15 minutes, tada, everything was back. The key locked and unlocked the doors and turned the ignition, but I didn't try to start because I hadn't transmitted the transponder. At home I transferred the transponder and keypad (keys and battery), sealed and tried. I witnessed a problem that the locksmith said could happen. The car rolled over but didn't start. I opened it up again, turned the transponder over and tried again. It still won't work. I've tried again and again by flipping the transponder in the slot, forward, backward, upside down, whatever, but unfortunately got the same result. I am not satisfied with the product, hence 1 star. I haven't had any issues with the seller but I will be in touch with them again to see if they would like to send me a replacement case in case there are any manufacturing issues with it. I doubt it, but we'll see.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something different
