So before I got this tool I tried everything to get my old cartridge out. I gently tapped the sides to loosen them, sprayed what looked like a whole can of WD-40 on them, and used a hammer to pull on the bolt as hard as I could. Nothing, not even enough to remove this thing. I spoke to friends and they advised me to get a tool designed for this. I got this one hoping it would help but didn't realize how much easier it would be. To be transparent, the screw provided wasn't long enough to reach my cartridge, but I had a few screws that worked that way. it was no problem for me. After securing everything, I pulled and it came out effortlessly. This tool literally took a job that took me several hours to do and did it in 7 minutes (it took 2 to find the screw). So if you have one of those cartridges that won't seem to come out, I highly recommend you get this tool. It's a strong metal and it was easy. Also, they offered me a $5 Amazon gift card for a 5 star rating, but I would give it 5 stars no matter what, just because it needed a job I had been taking care of for months. to a super simple task.
