I love this radio for GMRs. I love the scan feature. The reception range is excellent, I caught all my local repeaters, including amateur radio repeaters. Easy programming without a programming cable. If you try to program weather stations into your memory or monitor certain frequencies when you press the menu button to make your selection, make sure it is not accepted or not stored in memory. The radio doesn't remember if it's receiving, so simply unscrew the antenna while on your frequency and it picks up the channel. Upgraded with antenna Nagoya 771. btech ham radio coming soon. I definitely recommend it
