I bought this radio as an emergency radio. Runs on two AA batteries. This allows the radio to run for many more hours than if powered by a 9 volt "transistor radio battery". The radio is adjusted with the dial near the travel scale on top of the radio. The radio is based on the Si4825A10 digital radio chip. The radio stays in the station and does not drift. The radio has good selectivity and you only hear one station at a time. The speaker is loud and clear. The sound power is about 3 watts. The second chip, NS8002, powers the speaker. The sound is mono, not stereo. All in all this is a good basic radio.
