Best deal if you are looking for a good portable radio

I was looking for a good portable radio at a very good price. That's it. For just $9.99, it's portable, has a wide range of stations and great sound quality. I bought it so I could have a radio in my office that records NPR. I'm not sure how long the battery will last, but I'm very happy with my purchase.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Nice little transistor.

I haven't had to write a good review on a Revain product that often before. I'm impressed with this little radio and for such a small transistor it has a pretty decent sound. I bought it for emergencies and power outages, of which Northern California is plentiful. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there isn't one station that I listen to very often, unlike all my other radio stations.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Upgradable

ALWAYS ONLY FM RADIO

Radio is good when you're on the FM band, but using the AM disc is hit or miss, but not when you're into off-air hiss and look for noise. You extend the antenna all the way. With this radio you are basically just buying a radio for FM use. The AM/FM ON/OFF selector is in a single slide knob and they are not the most reliable for long term use of the electronics so most manufacturers place the ON/OFF switch in the volume control dial. Long-term use will be the ultimate proof.

A simple old school portable AM/FM radio.

I bought this radio as an emergency radio. Runs on two AA batteries. This allows the radio to run for many more hours than if powered by a 9 volt "transistor radio battery". The radio is adjusted with the dial near the travel scale on top of the radio. The radio is based on the Si4825A10 digital radio chip. The radio stays in the station and does not drift. The radio has good selectivity and you only hear one station at a time. The speaker is loud and clear. The sound power is about 3 watts…

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Good radio when you get it on sale.

I bought it when it was about $9. For the price, this is good value. I would not recommend the regular price ($12). The sound quality is relatively good. The quality of the transistor radio is above average. FM reception quality is better than AM. There is some noise in AM, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would say the AM reception is above average for this type of radio. Local channels are easily tuned in. I turned on this radio late at night and could hear an AM station in a Utah town…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Fading
