Review on Cableague 16AWG Speaker Theater Speakers by Will Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Aluminum clad with copper has lower conductivity. I will use for rear speakers.

I tried this cable with two large front speakers, but it couldn't handle high volume and I heard the bass drop out. This is despite the fact that I went with 12 AWG cable, which I thought could handle just about anything. I went online and found that CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) isn't as good as pure copper in terms of conductivity and frequency response, and you need to add 2 to AWG to reflect capabilities. So a 12 AWG wire will behave like a 14 AWG wire. However, I didn't notice any reduction in high frequency response. So I use this cable for my rear speakers (surround sound) and it works great for that.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
