Review on LeapFrog Stack and Tumble Elephant (Amazon Exclusive) - Fun and Educational Purple Toy for Kids by Alex Gilbert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Stack & Tumble Elephant is a lot of fun and interesting, but can be a bit spirited at times.

Ring stackers are boring and non-interactive. I had an old-fashioned Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack (who doesn't have one?), but there's not much to it other than simple instructions and a game. We love anything in this house called Leap Frog, and Stack & Tumble Elephant is a huge hit. She sings about numbers, shapes and colors and also says that she is happy. The sneeze is absolutely adorable! Well this is an elephant that needs a little care and help. I find that the performance can be a bit whimsical or spirited at times. One thing that is mandatory is to keep the Stack and Tumble Elephant on a level surface AND its trunk right in front of the start. If not, it will be difficult to arrange the rings as the nose will fall and the rings will fall off. The order isn't always consistent, and sometimes after clicking the tail I get two identical concepts in a row. Even now and then, if the ring is slightly skewed, nothing happens. For example I get colors and then numbers but I have to play around to get the shapes. The only way to get a color/number/shape sequence is to let Stack & Tumble Elephant go through the whole sequence before trying to move on to the next one. The tail lever has to be pressed (the rings fall off), then the nose has to be pressed and so on until the elephant tells you everything it knows about these colors, numbers and shapes. Below I've listed a few phrases, but there are a few more. There are no specific instructions other than a brief introduction, a line drawing of a stacking and falling elephant, and a few warnings. The "view" numbers/shapes/colors are actually ordered. For example, when working with numbers, if I go from two to five, Stack and Tumble Elephant tells me it's five. It has sensors on its trunk that tell the elephant which ring has been placed. Our little ones love it, but the Elephant needs a little tweaking to function optimally. When an adult helps, there are fewer quirks. The ears make a great clicking sound and can be rotated back and forth. Small colored sensors on the trunk "say" the number when touched. There is a volume control (required in some families) which I find very handy. It can be a great teaching tool or a simple toy. No matter what you use Elephant for, it'll be a hit!•► SENTENCES: Oh, let's play! Put rings on my suitcase! Click the tip of my trunk! Flowers make me sneeze, but I love them, don't I? Colors make me ah, ha, ah-choo! Orange, purple, red, yellow, green. You make me happy! Twist my ears! I like you! Numbers give me goosebumps, but I love them, do you? Numbers make me ah, ha, ah-choo! One two three four five. Yes, one, two, three, four, five rings. Can you find ring number three? love her don't you? A circle. Two hearts. Three triangles. Four squares. Five stars. There are also different sounds.
