Review on 🔌 ALFA USB-C to 2.5Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C Compatible, for MacBook and Windows Systems by Greg Greiner

I bought this one with the vented adapter because reviews of other 2.5GBE adapters often mentioned that the adapter gets very hot. This one definitely feels a bit cooler than my other 2.5Gbe adapter, so I'd say the ventilation is effective. The adapter worked out of the box on my 10.13.6 MacBook Pro, but the speeds were slower than expected. After installing the latest Realtek driver from Realtek Taiwan website, the speed is much faster. In speed tests between my RAID10 NAS and this computer with large files, I see peak read speeds of 270MB/s (2200MB/s) and peak write speeds of 220MB/s (1800MB/s). This is about the same as what I'm seeing with a different brand adapter (also Realtek based) on another computer. Generally so far so good.
