Review on EPAUTO 12V 12ft Heavy Duty Extension Cord with Cigarette Lighter Socket by Nguyen Taylor

First off, this is a perfectly acceptable extension cord for most car cigarette lighter sockets that operate on 10-15 amp circuits. However, the product lists a 30 amp rating, which I think is incorrect. I bought this to use as a spare cord for easy use on an inverter so I knew I would cut it. I was disappointed with what I found. Internal wires only 18AWG inside the large diameter insulation. You will most likely blow your car's fuse before you draw 30 amps, but if you don't have that protection and plan to run 30 amps, you run into some big potential problems. The seller specifically answered the buyer's question about the inside diameter of the wires, stating that they are 12 gauge. That is not right. This stranded copper conductor is .041 (18 AWG) and 12 AWG is .081. Please see my photos showing what I experienced with the cable I received on October 2nd, 2015. Also remember that the plug does not contain a fuse. They don't claim it, but the case is very similar to what they do.
