So I was looking for a way to fix my concrete road. Unfortunately, the concrete expansion joints came loose and created a fairly large gap. After much research I found that I should use a support rod to route the expansion joints and then caulk it with self-leveling chalk. This will prevent erosion of the base material beneath the concrete due to the extra water. I needed a few different sizes as the width of the expansion joints varied as you climbed the length of the driveway. I found what I needed. MD Building Products Backer Rod. I bought size 1/4 and 1/2. I like to tell people about my shopping experience, in this case I cut out the same rating for the 1/4 and 1/2 sizes I got (not a big difference). Both 1/4 and 1/2 inch arrived on time. They were packed very well. Super light as you can imagine. The support bar is like foam. It is well suited for expansion joints. Nice tight fit. This is exactly what I was looking for. Otherwise, with expansion joints that wide and deep, it would take a lot of self-leveling chalk to fill them. The material cuts very easily. I use my utility knife, but regular scissors will do just fine. I was happy with the quality. I was confident when I installed it in expansion joints that it would hold up well and do its job.
