Review on Coralife 05692 Pure Flo 50 Gallon System by Laurie Nelson

This purchase was the third of these devices that I have bought in the last 10 years. The first was for our marine aquariums. Customize it with an automatic shut-off valve, the addition of a 13-gallon pressure/storage tank, and plumbing from the basement mount to the potable water outlet at the kitchen sink. This has served us well and will continue to serve us well. At my parents' request, I installed an identical system for them. Shortly after that, they left the state for a few years, so the system didn't work. They had just returned to their house and as I was about to reconfigure the system I noticed that one of the canisters was cracked. An attempt to find replacement canisters was unsuccessful, so I ordered a third complete unit, thinking that with two operating systems it wouldn't hurt to have spares. Replaced the cracked canister - and it flowed. Replaced the canister head and the combination STILL leaks. plentiful. Strongly disappointed. These are good devices but when I look at the method of sealing between the canister and its top I see a poor design. Instead of an O-ring sandwiched between two mating surfaces, the canister has some sort of built-in elastomeric seal. I'll measure the o-ring and if I can find one that's the right diameter, see if I can remove the built-in gasket and replace it with an o-ring. Very disappointed they couldn't get a better sealer for the money. By the way, the manufacturer is not available.
