I haven't been able to find any strong matches in the store lately. We have a couple of old little boxes of matches but it usually takes two or three before one of them finally lights up and the ignition area on the side of the box wears out before the matches run out. So I was looking for a refillable butane gas lighter but had concerns about safety, storage etc. I looked at these rechargeable lighters and decided to give it a try. This one was great! I'm recovering from wrist surgery and am mostly using my non-dominant hand. I can still light candles with no problem. The battery indicator shows when it's getting low and so far it holds a charge for weeks before I have to charge it again. I light at least one candle every day. My concern is that if the battery dies while it's in the box it might not work if you need it in an emergency. I'm hoping to find more suitable matches to take with me in case of emergencies! Others have commented that the noise bothers their pets, but my cat was in the room when I used this and didn't pretend it bothered him.
