I've never played with a fisheye lens and I'm still discovering the potential of this lens. I bought it for long exposure night shots, which I haven't had a chance to try yet. Because of its insanely wide 190 degree field of view, I can photograph the entire sky by looking straight up and the horizon appears 360 degrees around the photo. I did it in the afternoon; I can't wait to try it at night. Understand that a fisheye lens is a special lens, almost a brand new lens. Because its field of view exceeds 180 degrees, the images it creates are circular and there is no way to convert them to rectangular images. Of course you can crop out a rectangular area from the image, but since the fisheye effect gets noticeably stronger towards the edge, cropping out the central part looks like a normal photo was taken with a poorly corrected lens. The quality and finish of the lens is excellent. The focus and aperture rings are smooth, with no clicks and just the right amount of drag. The aluminum lens cap has a friction fit and is coated with a velvety material on the mating surfaces to prevent damage to the lens barrel. The semi-hard case is of very good quality and offers good protection. Also included is a rear lens cap. Due to the construction of the lens, it cannot be used with screw-on filters, so it is not threaded. A very wide viewing angle does not allow the use of a lens hood. In addition, the wide angle ensures that the sun is in the picture as often as not when taking pictures outdoors. The lens tends to flicker, both within the circular image and more noticeably outside the black space surrounding the image. I like it and it's easy to clean anyway. I'll try to include a few photo examples where it's obvious, but for some reason Revain won't let me attach photos to this review.
