I've always bought a smaller version of this thing because of the bug load. I think it smells nice and hey it's green so what's not to like? It works as a source of water and nutrients and after reading the information about this large container I found that even herpes can digest it so I don't have to worry if my animals eat it. I have Tokay so they don't usually touch anything that isn't walking around in the cage which means the crickets have to be left in the cage (night is the best time to hunt). they can be eaten. The only surprise with this purchase was that it came in a solid block of jelly with innards instead of the little cubes you get in the smaller version. Imagine my surprise when I realized I would have to take a knife and cut it myself. This has both positive and negative sides. On the plus side, the large disc doesn't dry out as quickly, making it easier to feed dubias or crickets rather than throwing a few tiny cubes at everything (and that often crushes a few crickets). and if you even want diced pieces, how you make them is up to you. I recommend this to everyone. It's not the only supplement I use, as most of my bugs get leftover food from me and my animals, but it's my main store-bought supplement.
