Review on Portland Design Works Shovel Fender by Srivatsan Oling

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy installation, offers pretty good coverage.

was easy to install and position. The fender looked good on my bike and didn't weigh at all. Now for the cons. The fender was difficult to tighten to stay in place.2. The strap that holds the wing stretches and then moves.3. The latches holding the wing are not durable. The fender came off while driving through the woods. I don't know when or where the fender came loose, but now I don't have a rear fender. Update 2-8-2019 The company sent me a new grand piano. This time, as you can see in the picture, I made sure to fully bend the wing and give it a shape. I took the bike out to ride and the fender stayed in place. Fairly good protection against dirt and splashing water. I still want the wing to be a bit wider to give more coverage. The wing did its job really well. I would take the roof off. I don't think the wing clamps would withstand the wind when moving. I was able to kick the fender while installing the bike and the clip broke off. Overall, this is a good fender for a fat bike.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • The secret wing
