Review on πŸ”Š Sony ICF-CD863V Clock Radio - AM/FM/TV/Weather, CD Player (Discontinued) by Jeff Olson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good sound and reception plus cumbersome controls

Was looking for a good value, good sounding CD clock radio to replace my old Sony cassette clock radio which had better fidelity. Overall this device is disappointing, especially for the price and the Sony name. Despite two front speakers and a rear "subwoofer", the sound is tinny and weak. My old cassette player with just a 4" speaker sounds a lot better. Reception is also poor. Only the closest, strongest stations pick up clearly. The rest is full of noise and you have to change the orientation of the wire antennas. Each CD is a nuisance when changing tracks , especially long when searching for a track in random order.Although very full featured, the controls are a bit fiddly critical buttons, those that are difficult to find on the front by touching them, some of them are very small and awkwardly placed The Display is large and easy to read, there is a lot of information on it, although it disappears unless you look directly in. I still use it, although I keep looking for a device with better sound and smarter controls.
