Promotional photos show this product being sprayed onto a flat horizontal surface where the liquid can penetrate the wood and work wonders. I tried the product on an oak swing door that had a nasty black stain on it. The liquid dripped down like water when sprayed on the stain and prevented it from penetrating the stain, so it didn't help. This doesn't mean it won't work on a flat horizontal surface, it just won't work on a vertical surface. The solid oak door is too big and heavy to remove the hinges and lay flat so I used a random orbital sander and removed the surface about 1/32 inch to remove the water/mold stain.
