This is a 9 speed cassette that I used to replace the original part on my old Cannondale bike. It fits like a glove and shifts much better now. The original has lasted for many years, hopefully this one of the same make and model will last a long time too. It's easy to replace, but the process requires a few specialized tools. I found ParkTool has a very helpful tutorial on Youtube on how to do this. A sign that it's time to replace the cassette is when the chain starts to jump from sprocket to sprocket under load (e.g. between several smaller sprockets) and adjusting the rear derailleur cannot fix the problem.
