Review on ๐ŸŒฑ VIVOSUN 4 Inch 203 CFM ETL Certified Inline Duct Fan: Efficient Ventilation for Your Grow Tent by Elizabeth White

Strong fan, needs to be sealed and balanced

Product (because there are several on the page): built-in fan. I got this laser cutter fan for smoke removal. It meets the specs I need and the fan itself works REALLY well (minus 1/2 stars). The lack of a gasket on the wing meant I had to do extra work as the smoke was coming into the room from a fan rather than a duct. After a few pieces of tape it was sealed around the fan seam (the junction box also leaked) (minus 1/2 star). A secondary issue was balancing. Needed a counterweight on the hub to keep it smooth and not floating around the house. Luckily there is a ring of holes on the hub where a small machine screw can be safely placed, which solved this problem. I suspect this would have caused the bearings to fail if not touched, apart from the newly added house noise during operation. As always, I take a closer look at the structure and the build quality. The fan itself is housed in a standard-sized metal case that holds up well enough. There are a few features I like: there is a counter/stabilizing air vent that prevents it from spinning (better airflow), the hub is all metal, and the blades are high quality plastic. The hub appears to be cast aluminum with an attached steel disc, so I don't expect this thing to break or fall apart from rotation as easily as all plastic hubs with the same CFM rating. Wire work is what I expect. , nothing troubling found opening the case and had all the right features/placement to comply with electrical regulations (not overly stuffed, strain relief points, good connections). The base/legs are a solid construction but the holes appear to be for hanging the device. For surface mounting, the screws must be screwed in from the side, as the fan protrudes beyond the mounting holes. Not a problem, more of an annoyance for me.
