I'm new to matte cutting and didn't want to give it all and spend $100 just in case I didn't like it or couldn't learn, how to cut carpets I used someone else's larger cutter and it was a lot easier. I keep getting crooked carpets. You really have to hold onto all the pieces while pushing the blade through the mat and pulling hard. I teach myself so there could be a better way. Compact Elete has a video that reviewers have found helpful. Maybe I should just go to the gym :). However, I really like this concept. I love that I can customize the mount to suit my decor and the picture I'm framing. I love working with color and adding my touch to my prints. It was a very creative experience. So even if a few lines aren't quite perfect, I still enjoy this piece and who knows, maybe I'll buy an elete for Mother's Day.
