I combine it with a paper towel with some essential oils placed near the head of the person being massaged, depending on what they prefer or if they just want something different. Once you spread the right amount it doesn't dry out, it stays liquid without evaporating (which means it's quite moisturizing if you leave it on after a massage, although personally I prefer to shower and clean myself up after each massage feel). The bottle is large enough to retain a decent amount of heat when placed in a warm water bath before use. I usually do this and then put it in an insulated drink koozie (so the bottle isn't slippery and also insulates heat).
