Can save a life if you live in a two story house!

A family in our area recently died from being unable to leave their two story home. My husband is a fireman and he was one of the people who found the family huddled by the upstairs window. It was one of the saddest things. They were mom and dad and two kids. The stairwell in their house burned down and they couldn't get out. If they had a fire escape, they might have survived. After my husband got home from this call he immediately ordered one of these from Revain. We recently moved into a two story house and have not bought it yet. It's not worth the risk. We are actually planning on buying another one to put on both sides of the house upstairs just in case we can't get hold of one. The only other thing I thought this last one wouldn't solve was the problem of having young children. Obviously, adults could easily climb down this ladder from the window, but not toddlers or babies. In fact, I was thinking of tying ropes to a laundry basket and putting it in the closet because if I was home alone and my husband wasn't there and I had two kids at home, I wouldn't be able to bring them up the stairs by myself down. But I could put the baby in a laundry basket and let him down on a rope. This might sound crazy, but it's probably what I would have to do in an emergency if I was alone with my kids. Just an idea for other moms with young kids. So thankful they make a product like this to protect families!
