Edit: I really liked this item as it is much smaller and easier to use than the cordless PetSmart alternative for my application. I have set up and tried a dual collar model in several locations and have always been frustrated by the inconsistent coverage of the transmitter. Not only that, but a collar was also subject to warnings and even corrective discharges if it was within the transmitter's set range *on the ground* while I was working on something else nearby. I've searched for a roughly circular circumference around the transmitter many times without finding a reliable pattern. There is absolutely no way I would put these collars on my dogs as no animal can be expected not to know where to move/not to move, even if afraid of shock. I mean, how would you like to take a math test and be shocked now and then for correct answers and sometimes for wrong answers? Consistency is key when it comes to dog training. I bought a used PetSmart wireless fence and ran the same tests. This matches the oval pattern on my steep slope within a few meters. The results are reproduced over and over again. Yes, it's more expensive, but it's not a sadistic torture machine like this, and that's the point of this whole exercise. If it came with a simple field strength meter so the user could observe the change as they passed the test area they might have more confidence, they'd be able to identify dead spots and understand any quirks in coverage, but that's it really what's supposed to happen during R&D, not Joe Consumer. The manufacturer clearly needs to either do better quality control - or abandon this design entirely. Of course I'll send it back. ------------------------------------------ -------- - ----------------------- ------------- --------- ---- ------------------------ --- Charging cable for dual collar setup is tucked away the back of the tray where everything else is packaged so I had to contact the seller to ask about what I think is a missing cable. So they asked me to give them a review for promotional purposes, so here I am. It's too early for me to know how well the system works, but I have high hopes for it. Physically it seems well designed. For my purposes, I'd like there to be some sort of sealed charging port because I think that will eventually kill either the transmitter or receivers (collars) - you need to be sure the captive rubber plug is replaced and doesn't come from some random ones trace of an animal. Time will tell and I'll post my actual experiences once I have some.
