Review on Finnex FugeRay Planted+ LED Aquarium Light featuring Moonlights by Miles Barney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I love the design of these lights - it takes a moment.

I bought two of these lights to replace the light source included in the Dennerle Nano Shrimp Tank. I love the design of these lights - they take a few minutes to set up and you can move them around freely. My only issue with these lights is the color spectrum. The spectrum has not been measured, but it is very warm to the naked eye. I'm guessing around 5000K. I would prefer something in the 6000-6700K range not only for my plants but also for the aesthetics. Despite CO2 fertilization, an 8-hour timer, good filtration and a very high plant-to-fish ratio, I had a real fight against algae. I understand that algae can be caused by many things, but I have to wonder if the light spectrum makes the problem worse. Finding different lighting options for the nano aquarium was difficult, but I think I might return. soon on the market. [Update - I've added some before and after photos. The "before" photos were taken on July 29, 2016. The "after" photos were taken on September 19, 2016. Sorry the "after" photos are so blurry - I'm dealing with bad reflections behind me. Just before I took the photos I just did a 90% water change because the water was a cloudy green. . . again. But I wanted to add photos to put my apparently negative comments in perspective. The lights make plants grow like crazy and I can't rule out the possibility that the green algae are the result of user error.]
