I have used nails, pickaxes, tees, spoked wheels on my drill and the like for many years. I've researched the topic, read the comments that it might be illegal. I see if you took the time and really tried to refine it to the point where it changed the face of the club then I would say you have too much free time. I play mostly in central Florida and am having trouble getting mud and sand into the grove. I've had times when I've had to play where it lay and a small rock would cause one of the groves to be jagged, that was my pet peeve, I take a punch or play. This tool restored my groves to the original manufacturer's specs, which is great. I made a 'Reliable Rusty' for a golf buddy and he was impressed, he texted me later that night and wanted to know where he could buy it. I do this at home, not at the track, it takes a lot of time and the brush works great on game day. When I first used it I worked all the clubs (I was shocked at what came out of my driver and fairway). I could see that it had to be replaced a few times a year due to wear and tear. The tip unscrews easily enough, you can't seem to buy just the tip, but for less than $7, who really cares.
