Same old story from other reviews, BMW technician overtightened my bolt. With the oil change interval recommended by BMW, I unfortunately only noticed this when the thread with the plug came out at the next oil change at 12,000 km. In desperation and without this kit, a mechanic friend of mine recommended that I use Teflon tape around the locking screw. to keep the car running. As an extra backup, I smeared a drop of epoxy onto the head of the screw. I have decided to change the oil pan as soon as I have the time. but "fix" worked fine. there is no oil leak. reprieve. After 12,000 miles I needed a permanent fix but really didn't want to take everything apart - this kit worked great. Below someone left a review and came up with a brilliant idea to flush the sump with drained oil collected in a clean trap. Tray. Why take the risk when it comes to the engine? I also used the stickiest lube I could find while cutting to collect the chips. I worked slowly, repeatedly scrubbing the shavings and grease off the tools with an aerosol thinner. When the time came, I dabbed some red threadlocker on the outside of the liner. I would also suggest waiting a day or two and changing the oil filter, cutting it open and checking. If it's clean, great! Otherwise replace and repeat.
