They aren't easy to install and take quite a while, but the real problem is the terrible quality of the rope locking mechanism. I drove them once (today after our big snow storm here in Seattle) after only driving them for 5 minutes (to make sure they actually work) I went out to inspect them and noticed the teeth were bent on one of them, and the asterisk is now not coaxial (see photo). Of course, the return period is now 4 days past, so I'm stuck with this POS. While the entire coupler seemed to work, I would feel uncomfortable if it stuck and I worry that they would break and then damage either my car or someone else's.
