I was very disappointed with this product

I was very disappointed with this product. The state of West Virginia is geographically incorrect. I emailed the company directly with my issue but was told to call and speak to someone. I understand it was made in China but I assume they should have quality control. I will fix the error so my 4 year old granddaughter will know the status of the WV when she sees it.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • No instructions

Too many conditions merged.

I was very disappointed because so many states were put together and there weren't separate pieces of the puzzle for each state. Most jigsaw puzzles break New England apart (which, as a Massachusetts resident, I don't like, but I understand), but this jigsaw combines New England and New York into one piece, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington, DC one piece, plus Wisconsin , Michigan and the Great Lakes in one piece. Definitely not what I expected.

Pros
  • dope 🔥
Cons
  • flimsy

Wrong form for the state!

I'm from West Virginia and I'm very disappointed in the way Melissa and Doug have represented our state. We have 2 handles that aren't even in this puzzle. You miss thousands of people and their hometowns. I would understand if it was a separate puzzle piece as those pieces would be small and thin so not ideal for a children's puzzle but they aren't! West Virginia is mixed with many other states. How difficult would it be to give it the right shape?

No real mystery. Very disappointed

Not sure if the designers of this particular product understand what a puzzle is. Of the 51 elements, only 14 are truly connected. Only the edge of the "puzzle" has intersecting pieces. All parts of the state are floating instead of fitting together like pieces of a puzzle. This forces you to use a large, flat, hard surface for assembly as the parts will not stick together. All of my other 2' x 3' jigsaw puzzles can be assembled on the carpet. I will be much more careful before buying another…

Great puzzle for exploring states and capitals

I bought this puzzle along with a smaller board puzzle, it has proved to be the most useful for my 10 year old. He needs to know the states and capitals to test the core curriculum in 5th grade. He liked this puzzle because the pieces stayed together when put together. I liked it because it was easy for him to take the pieces of the puzzle as they were presented in school and just study that part of the US (Northwest, Southwest, Central, Southeast, etc.). The pieces are colorful, large and…

  • Great for me

Good quality and good size

This is Melissa & Doug's so you know you're getting a quality product. It's not wood, it's cardboard, it's thick cardboard. We've disassembled and reassembled it a few times and everything seems fine. You can measure it to make sure you have a table big enough or if you don't mind walking on the floor, which also works great. I don't usually like the prices of Melissa & Doug products but this was one of the cheapest products and was worth it for the fun and learning experience. Keep in mind…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • The list will be long.

It could be stronger

We love this puzzle. We use it almost every day to teach geography to our younger children. The parts are large and each part is labeled with the state capital and specifics of each state. For that I give five stars, and if you're only releasing it once a month then it's probably good for you. It's just not strong enough for continuous use. We've had it for six months now and the corners of the puzzle pieces are pretty jumbled. This is normal wear and tear and anyone who has jigsaw puzzles…

Large-scale vivid images, interactive and effective!

I teach my 4 year old daughter Montessori at home. We really like this puzzle. My daughter loved the large format images, bright images and colors. Each condition also includes images/facts, which is particularly useful for visual representations. The first time my daughter made it I had to help her a little, but after that she just referred to the picture on the box and made it herself! My daughter is effectively learning the alignment of different states and their position in relation to one…

Good but could be better

I love it when my kids learn about the USA and we have family in different parts of the country so we traveled a bit to visit. I thought it would be nice if my preschooler could use this to visualize where we were. My 3.5 year old daughter can do this puzzle quite well on her own, but we collect a lot of puzzles around our house. We've collected it 6-8 times already and that's what caught my eye.1. It's a bit tricky because the pieces are not connected like a normal puzzle because they are…
