I bought this for my 18 month old son so he wouldn't throw his tablet around and break it. The clip works well on surfaces 1" to 2" thick and allows it to hold the tray to stabilize it and the articulating arm allows for some rotation. I am happy with the purchase. I no longer need a tablet for my 18 month old son to watch his children's programs. As a reminder to other potential buyers and readers of my review, I had to remove the protective case for the tablet we purchased in order to fit the grip portion of this item. If you look at the photos I've provided you can see I was able to clip it to the back of a chair to hold for him while he ate in the high chair. In addition, the clip is good for attaching to the metal supports of his stroller when we have to go outside.
