Review on 🧴 Sculpey Soft Liquid Clay Softener by Carla Anderson

Bad Plasticizer/Great for Liquid Sculpey

Bad Plasticizer: My experience with this clay plasticizer is that it doesn't soften the clay so much, it breaks down the outer layers as you work with it. My best advice is to avoid clay that is hard, old, and crumbly. It's just not worth the effort and pain you go through to make it usable again. It took me almost an hour to soften enough clay for a small amulet so that it would be flexible enough to use and not fall apart every time I tried to bend it. But then, after a few minutes, it dried up again and burst at every flex. drove me crazy BUT! I found a wonderful use for it, so I chose half the stars. Great for Liquid Sculpey: If you're using Translucent Liquid Sculpey (TLS) to make liquids for things like donut frosting or pancake syrup, etc., this material is great for diluting. Sometimes I make a lot of blood for my Halloween pendants and it gets too thick and doesn't flow like I want it to. Adding a few drops of Clay Softener thins the mix a bit and helps me get my mix back to the right consistency. But only add a few drops at a time so you don't get too skinny and run into the opposite problem. (Of course, if you do this, add some TLS back in to thicken it up a bit.)

Pros
  • High Quality Construction
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Does the job! Just a really tiny bottle. However a little goes a long way!
