I'm new to DIY oil changes. I have a Subaru Outback. The oil filter is located on top of the engine. I asked some of my mechanic friends what kind of oil filter I need. And this chain style was recommended. There were no instructions included. It took several tries to get the right alignment. The link spacing did not match my oil filter size. Whether it was too loose or the next link down, I couldn't hook it. I had to unscrew the oil filter at an angle to it with a wrench to get rid of the play. I have small, petite, girly hands, and I still managed to crack some of my knuckles. It wasn't easy to use.
