I'm a professional chef, so it's very important to me that my knives are sharp. A leather strap like this is the final step in my sharpening routine and helps me get razor sharp blades. This sling has multiple options depending on your preference: one side is suede and the other side is smooth treated leather, and it comes with two different buffing compounds: a coarse white mix and a fine green one. I've found that I can get an almost mirror-like shine on the smooth side of the leather with the green mix, but it's nice to have other options available. a bit tricky to use without attaching the skin to a stable surface. Since I'm only using the smooth side of the leather, I chose to glue the suede side to the wooden board to keep it from slipping under pressure. If you want to make this modification it works great, but if you don't want to do it there are other lines on Amazon already installed on the paddles for more comfortable use.
