Sturdy design spinning mechanism is smooth. The inner rinse basket is less sturdy but still well constructed. I was able to place an entire bag of packaged salad greens in the inner bowl. After rinsing the greens I replaced the lid and cranked the handle. The inner basket began to spin faster and faster the more I turned the handle. There are stop buttons to stop the spinning process, which is a nice touch. There is a water hole in top of the lid so that you can rinse your veggies with the lid on, there is a small cover for this hole that is not attached and I found that it did not stay on so I stopped using it. This does not hinder the spinning function at all. I would have liked to have instructions on how to clean the spinner but none was enclosed. My advice is to hand wash. For the price this was a good choice. Most of the water was removed and my salads are much more enjoyable. If you’ve never tried a salad spinner, once you do you will always use it. No more soggy lettuce. I tried carrots, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, and onions with varying results. This works best on leafy greens.
