Attach the sensor to the side of the kayak with the bracket provided. My only complaint is that there were no instillation screws, that would have been a nice bonus. I was in a very overgrown lake and it kept collecting algae in the form of fish, but I can't blame the device for that. I pulled a relatively small lure past the shifter and she picked it up. Where it was written that there is a fish, I caught something. In my photo I'm holding an old Humminbird RF 30 and the depths are almost identical. For the price, the sonar alone is definitely worth something. I wish the handheld was waterproof, but that's my only gripe. Just use rechargeable AAA batteries and you will be a happy angler.
