I received this case set a few days before the XPS 13 and when I first took it out of the box I was surprised at how pink it looked - I was nervous about how it's going to be would look too pink when placed on a laptop. It's advertised as "red," after all, not pink. When my XPS 13 arrived I just snapped the top and bottom pieces back into place and the color is definitely red. I would have preferred a slightly darker shade of red (damn, I'd love to see a full coverage option), but luckily it doesn't look pink. In some light it appears orange. There are so many heat dissipation holes on the bottom that it looks quite bright and overdone. I'm not entirely sure if they're all necessary for thermal reasons, but given the rarity of seeing the bottom it doesn't really matter. There are also small retractable legs on the bottom that tilt the laptop up a bit and also create extra cooling space. It's a nice touch. This product was engineered to fit the XPS 13 *perfectly* - there's not an extra millimeter anywhere, which is great. The plastic is thick, strong, very high quality. This slightly increases the thickness of the laptop, especially the retractable legs, but only by a few millimeters. I've been using it for just over a week and there are some minor scratches visible so I think it's a bit soft. I agree, although I'd rather change cases every six months than damage my laptop. Overall, especially considering the price, this is a good way to protect my laptop and I'm happy with the purchase.
