Review on ๐Ÿ’พ Hotusi 40 Pin IDE 16GB MLC Vertical DOM/SSD/Disk on Module: Efficient Internal Hard Drive for Industrial or Enterprise PC by Ryan Rea

Real scrap quality!

Originally purchased to install in a Compaq Portable III. The IDE connector is right next to the case, so there was no room to install this module. I also had to buy an IDE extension cable. That helped. But later, when I wanted to use it for something else, it grabbed the extension cord with such a death grip that it destroyed the cord when removing it. The fit doesn't have to be that tight! Then comes the power cord that comes with the kit. I had it in a box of stuff, I was about to take it out of the box and one of the wires completely detached from the connector. It seems very delicate, the slightest squeeze and it goes away instantly. When trying to pull the already defective power supply out of the module, which I tried without pulling on the cable, the 2nd cable came loose. The power cord plug was so tight I had to break the plastic to get it out. It's impossible to fix and I'm not sure where to find the power cord for it myself, it probably won't be much more than buying another module and repeating the same process. Basically yes, it works. and the quality sucks. Good luck, don't break it if you look at it wrong.

Pros
  • Internal SSDs
Cons
  • boring packaging
