Simple Solid State Drive for IDE interface

Plug and play. It's a fantastic replacement for the old, unreliable IDE drives of the past. If you're using vintage hardware, get one of these on a hard drive that's 20+ years old. It's worth it for the price and reliability alone, and the speed is noticeably faster.

Existing data is best on internal SSDs

Bought for a retro PC as I didn't want to bother finding a working magnetic IDE drive. My drive already had data on it and could be loaded into some sort of DOS. It looks like there was some kind of test program and some mp3 files whose names were in non-latin encoding. I'm not sure if it's refurbished, used, or the data was originally used as some sort of test case for the device. Real scrap quality!

Originally purchased to install in a Compaq Portable III. The IDE connector is right next to the case, so there was no room to install this module. I also had to buy an IDE extension cable. That helped. But later, when I wanted to use it for something else, it grabbed the extension cord with such a death grip that it destroyed the cord when removing it. The fit doesn't have to be that tight! Then comes the power cord that comes with the kit. I had it in a box of stuff, I was about to take it…
