Before I go into the car mount review, I would like to say how impressed I was with iOttie's customer support. After using the product for about a week, I received a call asking how the product worked. Who does it? Not many people I know. And now an overview of the car mount. I use mine for the iPhone 6S Plus in my 2014 Hyundai Veloster. The car mount kit includes two options for attaching a metal part to your device: one between the case and your phone and the other outside the case. For aesthetic reasons I chose to glue a metal plate between the case and the phone (inside the case). I was a little surprised and disappointed that the magnet wasn't as strong as I expected from a "rare earth" magnet. During a conversation with an iOttie customer service rep, she asked what type of case I have on my phone, and at the time I didn't think the thickness of my case could be the issue (yes!). I love using Tech21 cases on my devices and in case you don't know, they are rather average in terms of thickness (NOT Otterbox thickness). Anyway, I mentioned my frustration with the strength of the magnet and they sent the ENTIRE replacement kit and recommended sticking a small round metal plate on the outside of my phone case. I did it and it doesn't look as bad as I imagined (see picture) and now all the power of the magnet is implemented and it's amazing! Even before the replacement, the magnet was stuck to my phone in many potholes and railroad tracks in Lafayette, Indiana. It depends on the CD slot model, but I also used the small insert that comes with the kit to make it more solid. fits in my CD slot. I'm finally using the CD slot for something useful! I recommend this device to anyone who wants to quickly connect/disconnect their phone from the dashboard.
